Wow! Hey, Baby, Look, is just the right book for any young child! It is so fun, creative, exciting, and the artwork is so fun for young children (and old)! My grandchildren ages 1 and 3 want me to read it to them over and over. Sometime I just want to go to sleep – but they keep insisting – again, again, and again! This is a “must” buy! So fun and educational and loving. So glad I got it and have purchased several for friends. Hey, Baby, Look is a great look! and find!

  2. Dirk

Love the book. The pictures are bright, colorful, and high in contrast. It has a nice, clear font (mostly black on white) making it easy to read – even in low lighting.

Our 3 year old has a speech delay, but he really interacted well with it. He usually disregards childrens’ books that don’t tell a story, but this one, with the different questions ranging from colors, shapes, letters, to objects he was drawn into and eager to answer. Both mom and grandma were really impressed with how excited he was to answer the questions and get to the next page. He was really disappointed when they got to the end of the book.

The book is well constructed and strong. The pages are heavy cardboard and resist bending bending and biting. It’s already been thrown and stepped on, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at it.

Looking forward to her next book.

As a mother of four, I have sent my (now grown) kids on thousands of toddling trips to the shelf to pick out a book, while silently rooting for some books over others. With its sing song rhythm and all the opportunities for engagement, I’m sorry that Hey Baby Look wasn’t on our shelf when my kids were younger. I have gifted it to a family I know welcoming their first little one.

I especially appreciate the flexible way it’s written. The dialogue each time can be brand new–the pictures will prompt a reader to think of new questions–or the questions and answers can be comfortably predictable. Not only is it fun for a caregiver and little one to sit down together to read it in a rocking chair but the underlying “which one is different” illustrations on each page engage a pre-reader buckled into their car seat. Great book!

My Favorite Board Book Ever!! I love Hey, Baby, Look! It is so perfectly written and illustrated for infants and toddlers. The author obviously put a lot of effort into stimulating young minds. Great first board book for babies and first sight reader for toddlers! Buy several, because you will want one for your own children, and you will want to give them as gifts too!

We just had our first grandchild last year and once again are looking for good books for early childhood education and development. Hey Baby Look! fits the bill for both and is already being enjoyed by our grandson at six months of age. His parents say that he is very captivated by the book and they see the many ways it can entertain and challenge his little brain. Both parents are scientists, physics and biology. They are recommending this book to friends with little children already and are waiting for more to be published. Don’t wait another 35 years to do another Childrens book, Kate!!

  6. Ben Imdieke

With so much evidence supporting the importance of interactive reading with even the littlest readers, Kate Shannon’s book is a welcome addition to anyone’s library. The images, word choice, and rhymes all make for fresh opportunities to engage every time the books is read. Nice job packaging so much experience in one little board book!

  7. Terry Kerber

Original material that elevates 3 or 4 different thought processes on every page. Whimsical colors, objects, words all conveying a meaningful learning experience. It is no surprise this book has won numerous prestigious awards. Hey, Baby, Look! will provide parent and child many meaningful hours of quality interaction together. Be prepared to go into overtime with your loved little ones you introduce this book to. Love it!

  8. Andrea Brennan

Richly interactive! I gave this book to a friend’s 2 and 1/2 year old. She loves it. My 7-year old son read it to her. It is richly interactive and a great opportunity for older children to engage and lead younger children.

  9. Carol McCormick

As a grandmother of 8 I’ve purchased and read more board books than I can count. Hey, Baby, Look! is head and shoulders above them all! As a former teacher of young children I recognize the thought that went into creating it.The questions it poses stimulate a child’s curiosity and provoke conversation between child and adult. The simple bright illustrations attract the child’s interest and nurture their imagination. This has now become my favorite gift for baby showers and first birthdays. Bravo to author Kate Shannon and illustrator Morgan Owens!

  10. Meg Corrigan

What an adorable book for connecting with your little ones! I wish I had had this book when my kids and grandkids were small. The concept of Shannon’s Hey, Baby, Look! is based on research about babies’ brains, so it’s perfect for introducing small children to the fun of reading. I will remember this book the next time I need a baby gift.

  11. Kevin

This is the book our 3 year old twins fight over at bedtime. They each want to be able to hold it so they can be the first to respond to the questions it poses! We finally had to go get a second copy! A truly well thought out book that both parents and kids can enjoy.

  12. Connie Gruning

I babysit my 3-year-old Granddaughter Alice full time. I’ve been dipping my toe in Home Schooling for the past couple of months. It’s going really well too!! One of the tools I use is board books. They are usually written in large print, with rhyming words and written with EASY words!!

Alice and I have been using Hey, Baby, Look!! As our newest reading book. It’s SO CUTE!!! Steeped in brain-based research and meant to optimize interactive learning in a positive and playful way.

This is a great size book 6″ by 6″ so it’s perfect for little hands. The pages are thick and sturdy for those same little hands!! Have ya ever noticed just how destructive those tiny little hands can be?? The pages of Hey, Baby, Look! aren’t ones that can be picked at and destroyed; I LOVE THAT!!!

What Alice and I like about this book is the fact it’s also a question book. Each page has four different pictures and corresponding questions. For instance; Is the Lemon Sour? So each page has dozens of learning opportunities. From which of these four pictures can you eat? Which of these four pictures have a scent? So MANY possibilities!! Fun, colorful book!

  13. Robin E.

Hey, Baby, Look! I have purchased several books over the years for my niece and nephews – and wish this could have been one of them! Love the rhymes and cadence of the book, the bright colors, and I can see re-reading this clever, stimulating, sweet book over over and over again until the child is reading the book to you! I have purchased it for a couple of friends with young grandchildren – It really was a home run!

  14. Beth Anderson

Great interactive book that encourages conversations. Charming and wonderful, this one goes on the must have list for all.

  15. NMB

  16. Karen Carlson

This book offers a fun way to connect with your baby. Interactivity – without the batteries! We love the vibrant colors and pictures of things that would be familiar to any baby. Highly recommended by this mom!

  17. C. Briscoe

I got “Hey, Baby, Look!” for a family who really appreciated the opportunity to share quality learning time with the new addition to their family. They loved it so much I get one for every new baby I know. Highly recommended!

  18. Gretchen

Highly recommend this book for engaging little ones at reading time!

  19. Kristen Brown

This little book is not only adorable and fun to read with infants and toddlers but it is based on brain-research so I know it’s doing more than just entertaining – it’s teaching too! Great book for your own kids and to give as a gift!

  20. Kelly M.

I love this book! I have a plethora of baby cousins ages 0-3, have read it to all of them, and they LOVE it! They love how fun and interactive it is and they respond very well to the rhyming, colors, and interactive questions! I love watching their reactions; you can definitely tell that this book enhances brain development and learning! Hey, Baby, Look! is also great because it’s sturdy (board book), so the babies can play and mess around with it and not ruin the book (see photo). I would definitely recommend this book to everyone with a child ages 0-3 in their life! 🙂

  21. Elizabeth Laveen

Fantastic book that helps growing minds!

  22. Colleen

I bought this book for my Granddaughter’s first birthday. It is the perfect book to encage learning in an enjoyable manner. My daughter-in-law loves sitting with my granddaughter as she recognizes shapes, colors and animals. A Five Star For Sure!

  23. Dave Meyer

Beautiful, sturdy book with fun illustrations and lots of sensory input. We read the book to our 2-year-old niece and she adores it! Lots of great ideas to start introducing sensory concepts in a fun, engaging way. Thanks Shannon and Blue Dream!

  24. Robert P. Shannon

Want some intimate time with you child? Read this book together! A wonderful manifestation of love and learning at your beckoning; one of my favorite parenting activities indeed. Any and all time together with your child is good time; time together reading with your child is priceless!

In the interest of full disclosure, I am not related (despite the fact that we share the same family name).

  25. Stephanie S.

Finally, a real book for little ones! I loved it. Kate is not trying (too hard) to be trendy but sweet and tender, too. I AM VERY GRATEFUL!

    Stephanie (Women of Words author.)

  26. Jude Wiesner

The perfect beginner book. Bright colors and fun interactioin. Never too soon to start baby reading

  27. Terri Traudt

A new baby gift staple. This colorful, educational, sturdy little book is a new staple for my baby gift-giving. Not only is it sure to stimulate a young child’s learning, it is likely to plant the seeds of love for reading and art as well. A must-have for a beginning library!

  28. Sarah Ryan

I got this book for my nephew’s first birthday. He absolutely loves it. It is highly interactive with bright colors and recognizable pictures. A perfect learning tool for 0-3 year olds!

  29. MR BLENKUSH GREGORY

I have read this book to my 2 year old and my 4 year old. It is fun to see them get excited when searching for answers to the questions in the book. As a parent, I appreciate the vocabulary and concepts.

  30. MSte

Love this Book! I have 3 boys under 4 years old and all of them love this book. What else can I say but a “must have” for story time!

  31. Robert D. Shadley

A treat for both parent and child. The author understands how young brains function and it shows in this book. Just watch the reaction of your young one and see the alertness in their eyes. One of those rare books that allows the parent to enjoy the fun with their child. A must for every Mom and Dad to add to their child’s growth in learning.

  32. Mike

Simply awesome! A truly special book. It engages the child’s mind in all the right ways. There are also sorts of neurocognitive reasons that I need not belabor here, other than to point out that they are there for those who are curious. But really, it is just a beautiful book!

  33. Nikki Abramson

Bright! Colorful! Engaging! Educational! This book has it all.

As a teacher, I am always looking for good books to engage my students. This is the perfect book in size, shape, and length to engage infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. It is educationally based researched and every word and picture is strategically placed for the child’s brain development. I loved reading this book as it is engaging for the reader and the kid. It is a hands-on learning approach book and I highly recommend it to all with children or working with children.

  34. Phillip O’Toole

I don’t read a lot of children’s books. I have my favorites, but really the way it goes is, we sit down to read, the kid pulls out a book and crawls into my lap and just like Ron Burgundy, I’ll read whatever they put in front of me. As a parent I just try to keep the crap books out of the house. I don’t like Disney or anything associated with a cartoon or a collection of toys, but that is just my thing.

I bought Hey, Baby, Look! for my co-worker. My kids are grown and their textbooks are costing me more than my car payment, but I have been buying my favorites for his little girl whenever I have an excuse (I just like bringing her things). Hey, Baby, Look! has just the right graphic grab to keep the kid pulling it off the shelf and although Ave is only two she loves to pretend that she is using the book to teach me and I am just along for the ride. She is a bit sassy and she points and dictates the pictures like I am the baby. I think is it pretty cute, but it is obvious that the book is engaging her little kid brain in a connected conversation.

I recommend Hey, Baby, Look! to be a small spot of colorful intelligence to litter your friend or family member’s living room floor. Parents will love picking it up and putting it away repeatedly because it will probably get pulled right back out as soon as you turn your back.

  35. G. Mekler

Exceptional! A must have book for Parents,Grandparents,Aunts,or Uncles. Research has proven that reading with our children at a young age leads
to a lifelong passion for learning and education What better way to introduce children to reading than with this colorful, fun, well thought out
book. It not only engages young ones with its pictures but allows them to turn the pages on their own as they master the early skills of reading.
As a parent I highly recommend Hey Baby,Look! as a way to start introducing your child to the power of books! I’ll be gifting this book to all my friends
    with infants and toddlers!

  36. Laura Libby

This is a wonderful children’s book. It is so colorful and full of cute rhymes. Children are very engaged as you read this to them. It is a great way to expose young readers to the love of books. I highly recommend this book!

  38. ann aubitz

Great book! I purchased the book Hey, Baby, Look! for my friend’s new baby. As it was passed around the room at her shower I could hear the oohs And ahhs coming from the other moms. It was such a great present for a baby shower and was well received.

  39. Jim caught in

Great step forward in child development. I received a pre-release copy from the author, and I was very impressed with the thought processes it stimulated. If my mother had only shared a copy of this book with me when I was small, I may have turned out much better than I did.

  40. Michael Bischoff

This is an excellent book for the smallest book lovers. We got this book for our baby niece, but her three-year-old brother loves it. He likes the questions, the images, and knowing how to respond. (And he loves to read it to his sister.) We love the patterns, the colors, and the smart way the book engages young minds. Our nephew wanted to read it again and again!

As a parent, I’d highly recommend this book for child care centers and preschools — and for parents and grandparents to read with their little ones.

Since they loved it so much I just ordered it for a gift for a friend. I would highly recommend this book, great for ages 0-4.
